RESTORATION

What I am mostly interested in is making ruined, unusable instruments playable again, thus bringing back to life all their beauty and potential. Then players and audiences can enjoy listening to music played on original instruments.

The kind of restoration I apply is conservative. I try to maintain as many original parts of the instrument as possible. When I do have to substitute unusable, broken, deteriorated or missing parts, I use the kind of wood that is identical or at least similar to the original. All the other materials, such as varnish, hide glue etc., are 100% reversible. I document the entire process of restoration through photographs and technical drawings which are available only upon request. Clients' requirements have to be discussed and agreed upon before the restoration process begins.
